Erim Kaur, a 26-year-old entrepreneur, has achieved tremendous success with her family-inspired haircare brand, ByErim. The business, which specializes in luxury hair and beard care products, has reached a turnover of millions of pounds annually. But Erim’s journey to success goes beyond profit – it’s deeply rooted in her mother’s battle with cancer.

Inspired by her mother’s strength and determination, Erim founded ByErim in 2019. Prior to that, she spent years working alongside her grandmother, testing hundreds of different formulations in the kitchen. In its very first year, ByErim generated £1.5 million in revenue. Today, it is valued as a multi-million-pound business. Erim attributes her success to her family’s unwavering support.

Erim endured the devastating loss of her mother when she was just eight years old. Her mother’s struggle with cancer and subsequent hair loss due to chemotherapy deeply impacted Erim. She recalls, “[My mother’s death] was huge for me. Losing her at such a young age was incredibly painful, especially because she played a significant role in shaping who I am today.” Erim’s mother was not only her mother but also her biggest female influence.

Apart from witnessing her mother’s hair loss, Erim faced her own battle with alopecia, caused by stress. Determined to find a solution, she teamed up with her grandmother to develop a hair oil recipe that would anchor and bring strength back to her hair. This natural remedy not only worked for Erim but also inspired her to incorporate it into ByErim’s product line.

Hair oiling, a traditional practice in South Asian households, involves gently applying oil to the scalp and hair to enhance moisture and shine. Erim learned this practice from her South Asian roots and wanted to share it with the world. Through ByErim, she aims to help others struggling with hair loss by offering oil products designed to promote healthy hair.

Erim’s followers on Instagram exceed 245,000, making her a significant beauty influencer. She enthusiastically promotes her homemade hair oil masks, which have been a part of her routine since her early teenage years. Hair oiling not only nourishes the hair but also serves as a bonding exercise in many South Asian families.

Before launching ByErim, Erim worked at a nightclub, saving up her tips to start the business. On the day of the brand’s launch, the first 250 bottles sold out within four hours, and the next batch of 500 bottles sold out in just two hours. The overwhelming demand reflects the effectiveness and popularity of ByErim’s products.
