Meet Judy Bradford, an extraordinary 67-year-old grandmother with a heart as beautiful as her luscious locks. Two decades ago, Judy faced a battle against breast cancer that resulted in the loss of her own hair due to rigorous chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She vividly remembers the heartbreaking sight of her hair falling out “clump by clump.” But despite the trauma, Judy’s hair grew back longer and more vibrant than ever before once she triumphed over her illness.

A Beautiful Gesture

Now, twenty years later, Judy is determined to make a difference in the lives of children who are facing similar challenges. Inspired by her own struggles, she decided to donate her hair to create wigs for little girls in need. Judy couldn’t bear the thought of children enduring the same emotional turmoil she experienced when she was diagnosed.

A Lifetime of Natural Beauty

Judy’s hair, untouched by dyes or chemicals, has maintained its stunning color throughout her retired years. While a few strands of gray have appeared, the overall condition of her hair remains remarkably unchanged from fifty years ago. Judy considers herself incredibly fortunate to have been blessed with such resilient locks.

The Little Princess Trust

To achieve her goal of helping children undergoing chemotherapy, Judy teamed up with the Little Princess Trust. This remarkable charity provides free, real hair wigs to children and young people up to the age of 24 who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other medical conditions. The process of creating and fitting these wigs can be costly, usually amounting to around £700 each.

Hair as a Gift, Money as a Donation

With her last visit to the hairdresser dating back to January 2020 due to the pandemic, Judy seized the opportunity to grow out her hair and make a meaningful contribution. She underwent the chop at a local college on Wednesday, January 12, surrounded by her cherished friends and family. Judy’s decision to donate her hair and raise funds for the Little Princess Trust showcases her unwavering commitment to helping others.

Making a Difference, One Wig at a Time

Judy believes that her natural, undyed hair qualifies as the perfect donation for creating these special wigs. The thought of a child finding comfort and relief as they proudly wear a wig made, in part, from her hair fills Judy’s heart with joy. She holds this cause incredibly close to her heart because of her own personal journey, and hopes to bring a little ease to someone else’s life during this difficult time.
