Brave pooch Chi Chi with the fire crew

We all know that dogs are our faithful companions, but they can also be heroes in times of crisis. One remarkable dog named Chi Chi recently proved just how much they can do by saving their owner’s life during a kitchen fire. The clever pooch managed to open a locked door for fire crews, allowing them to quickly respond to the emergency.

The incident took place in Yeovil, Somerset. When Chi Chi’s owner collapsed on the kitchen floor, the dog sprang into action. Unable to establish contact with the occupant, the fire crew was desperately searching for another way to enter the house. That’s when they heard a “click” and realized that Chi Chi had unlocked the door, granting them access to the home.

Inside, they found the owner, Mr. Green, collapsed on the floor with the fire gaining momentum on the stove. Thanks to the dog’s quick thinking, the firefighters were able to swiftly put out the blaze and provide first aid until paramedics arrived.

The fire crew had been alerted to the scene by a smoke detector and a Careline alarm. Although communication was lost with the occupant, the crew arrived within six minutes.

Crew Manager Ian Bolton emphasized the significance of having monitored detection systems in people’s homes. This allows the fire service to provide lifesaving assistance in a matter of minutes. The successful collaboration between Careline and the fire service undoubtedly saved Mr. Green’s life. Chi Chi’s role in opening the door before the crew had to force their way in was the icing on the cake.
