Thomas getting his hair cut

A heartwarming story has emerged of a 10-year-old schoolboy who has gone above and beyond to support children battling cancer. Thomas Waller, who used to be mistaken for a girl because of his long locks, decided to cut off 14 inches of his blonde hair and donate it to the Princess Trust charity. This charity uses donated hair to create wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

Thomas, who had earned the nickname “Gareth Bale” from his football team due to his stylish “man bun,” was inspired to help after learning about children who had lost their hair due to illness. When he shared his plan with his parents, Stacy and Stephen Waller, they were overwhelmed with pride.

Stacy shared, “Thomas told us that he had been thinking about children who were sick and had lost their hair, and he found it unfair and sad. That’s when he decided to grow his hair and donate it to make a wig.” Thomas’s determination was unwavering, even when strangers mistook him for a girl throughout the two years it took him to grow his hair.

Support for Thomas poured in from his football team, Broomfield FC, who stood by him throughout his hair-growing journey. Incredibly, Thomas also managed to raise an impressive £4,053 (approximately $5,300) for the Little Princess Trust alongside his hair donation. This amount, combined with his donated hair, will help create seven wigs for children in need.

Thomas finally had his hair cut on June 29th by Gemma Turner, a friend of his mother’s. Stacy shared, “Thomas is happy that his hair has been cut off and can now be used to make a child happy and boost their confidence.” Thomas himself expressed his motivation, saying, “I wanted to bring happiness to a little child who lost their hair.”

This heartwarming story serves as a shining example of kindness and compassion, reminding us all of the incredible impact we can make in the lives of others.
