Jimmy Carter

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, made a rare public appearance at the memorial service for his late wife, Rosalynn Carter. Dressed in a dark suit and tie, Carter, who entered hospice care earlier this year, was present to support his wife in her final moments.

The memorial took place at the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta, where Carter sat in his wheelchair, surrounded by his loving children. Prior to the service, Jason Carter, the grandson of Jimmy and Rosalynn, provided an update on the former president’s condition, expressing that time might be running out.

Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter had been inseparable since their childhood days in Plains, Georgia. It was only fitting that they were together in Rosalynn’s last hours. Although her passing, at the age of 96, was expected, it has been widely celebrated by thousands, considering her remarkable contributions throughout her life.

Rosalynn Carter served as the First Lady from 1977 to 1981, but her dedication to humanitarian work continued long after. She and Jimmy faced health challenges during the past year, with Jimmy Carter entering hospice care in February, declining further medical intervention.

Now, with Rosalynn gone, there is concern that Jimmy’s health could rapidly decline. Jason Carter, speaking to the New York Post before the memorial service, confirmed this. He revealed that his grandfather is physically weakened and nearing the end.

Jason shared poignant words about his grandparents’ relationship, saying, “He has been this moral rock for so many people, but she really was that rock for him.”

During Rosalynn’s memorial service, their daughter Amy Carter emotionally read a heartwarming letter that Jimmy had sent to his wife while serving in the Navy. In the letter, Jimmy expressed his love and admiration, stating, “When I see you, I fall in love all over again.”

Let us reflect on the life of Rosalynn Carter and send prayers to the Carter family during this difficult time.
