Michael J. Fox

Michael J. Fox, a true fighter, has been living with Parkinson’s disease for an astounding 33 years. Despite the challenges he faces daily, Fox maintains a positive outlook on life, becoming a beacon of inspiration for many. Director Davis Guggenheim, who spent time with Fox, wished for the same perspective, in awe of his courage and strength.

Living with Parkinson’s brings about significant difficulties, but Fox sees it as a complex gift that has shaped his life in unexpected and positive ways. He embraces the notion that it’s a gift that keeps taking but has managed to transform his outlook on life, finding silver linings amidst the storms.

Fox’s journey hasn’t been easy. He has faced numerous hardships, including bouts of depression and a series of injuries that led to broken bones and surgeries. Yet, he remains incredibly resilient, proving time and time again that he’s a tough individual.

Now at 62 years old, Fox openly acknowledges his mortality. He isn’t afraid of what the future holds, understanding that there may come a day when he decides, “I’m not going out today.” The uncertainty of the future doesn’t deter him, and he continues to face each day with determination.

Although life with Parkinson’s disease grows tougher, Fox remains steadfast in his resolve. He accepts that he may not see his 80th birthday, but he’s ready to carry Parkinson’s with him for as long as necessary. He knows that the disease is always there, knocking on his door, but he refuses to let it define him. Instead, he chooses to press forward, living life on his own terms.
