MaeDell, the proud matriarch of a large family, currently has over 620 grandchildren, showing the depth of her motherly love.

Bill, a 50-year-old railroad worker with ten children from a previous marriage, provided many challenges for the young couple. Despite limited resources, the couple raised thirteen children together without modern conveniences such as a washer and dryer or running water.
However, even in the face of adversity, MaeDell never complained. Her daughter Frances, who is seen in the photo, never voiced any discontent about their circumstances either. The strength and resilience of these women are truly inspiring.

MaeDell’s legacy is awe-inspiring. Outside of Kentucky, she has an incredible 37 great-great-great-grandchildren, along with 106 grandchildren, 222 great-grandchildren, and 234 great-great-grandchildren. The sheer number of descendants is a testament to the impact MaeDell has had on her family.
