Last month, on Tracy’s 63rd birthday, Fox once again showered her with love through a sweet tribute. “She showers the people she loves with love, she shows them the way that she feels,” he wrote. “My forever Summer girl, my love, my best friend, and the most beautiful amazing mom to our four stupendous kids. The love story between Fox and Pollan began in 1988 when they first met on the set of Family Ties, where Pollan played Alex P. Keaton’s fiancée. Their paths crossed again during the filming of the movie Bright Lights, Big City, and their connection blossomed into a romance. They tied the knot on July 16, 1988, and together, they are proud parents to their son Sam, identical twin girls Aquinnah and Schuyler, and daughter Esmé.
Just a few years into their marriage, Fox received a devastating diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease in 1991. It was a shocking and frightening moment for him. However, throughout this challenging journey, Tracy’s unwavering love and support became his guiding light. On The Late Show With David Letterman, Fox shared, “One of the things I’ll always love Tracy for is that at that moment, she didn’t blink.”
For the past 35 years, Fox and Pollan have been a constant source of love and support for each other. They truly listen, are there for each other when needed, and also give each other space. Fox acknowledges Tracy as the foundation of their family, stating, “Tracy gives our family everything that we need. Any good in our family, anything good that we do, comes from her.”
Although Fox retired from acting in 2021 and admits that his battle with Parkinson’s is becoming more challenging, he remains optimistic and “happy.” He continues to make a positive impact through his Michael J. Fox Foundation, which funds studies aiming to develop more effective Parkinson’s therapies and find a cure. As the largest nonprofit financier of Parkinson’s disease research, the foundation has raised over $1 billion for research initiatives.
