Elliott, now 79, has been happily married to his devoted wife Katharine Ross for over three decades. Their love story is straight out of a Hollywood movie.
Sam Elliott, a Hollywood hunk with a large following of female fans, only had eyes for one woman – Katharine Ross, his wife of thirty years. Their paths first crossed on the set of the classic film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, in which Ross had a significant role. At that time, Elliott was just a “glorified extra” in a pub scene.
Elliott was smitten with Ross from the moment he laid eyes on her, but he was too hesitant to act on his feelings. She was a Hollywood star, and he considered himself unworthy. He watched her from afar, never mustering the courage to approach her or even speak to her.
Despite his initial fears, Elliott’s love for Ross never wavered. Fate brought them together again in 1978 on the set of The Legacy. This time, they connected instantly, and six years later, they exchanged wedding vows. It was Elliott’s first marriage, while Ross had been married four times before.
