Patrick Mahomes ‘Praying For Kansas City’ After Super Bowl Parade Shooting

In the aftermath of the horrifying shooting incident that took place during the Kansas City Super Bowl celebratory parade, NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed his heartfelt prayers for the city. Taking to X, Mahomes posted, “Praying for Kansas City,” accompanied by three praying hands emojis. His teammate, Drue Tranquill, a linebacker for the Chiefs, also shared a message on X, calling for prayers for the doctors, first responders, and for the complete healing of all those affected. Mahomes promptly retweeted Tranquill’s post.

The shooting occurred to the west of Kansas City’s Union Station during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade. According to authorities, multiple individuals were shot and rushed to nearby hospitals. Sadly, there were reported to be 14 victims, with one fatality. The Kansas City Fire Department stated that three victims are in critical condition, five in serious condition, and one with non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, five other individuals sought medical attention for injuries, but it is unclear if they were related to gunshots. Kansas City Police detained two armed individuals near the rally celebrating Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. They have been arrested and are under investigation.

Eyewitnesses shared their accounts of the terrifying incident. One woman recounted seeing police officers rushing into buildings around Union Station and hearing sudden popping sounds as they advanced towards a stairwell. Another woman described how she urged everyone to take cover and move out of harm’s way as officers swiftly responded to the situation.

The incident is currently under investigation, as the authorities work to determine the full details and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
