I stumbled upon a treasure from my childhood at our local IGA store yesterday – old fashioned candies. Even though I never really enjoyed their taste, the nostalgic smell always takes me back to Christmas. So, I couldn’t resist buying some.

While chatting with the cashier, she shared this delightful recipe with me. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but it looks scrumptious and adds a festive touch to the classic forerunner of gummy bears. Let me know if you decide to give it a whirl!

Ingredients:

  • Orange slice candies
  • Powdered sugar
  • Pecans, chopped or ground

Directions:

  1. Place the orange slice candies in a microwave-safe bowl and heat until soft. Usually, 20 seconds in my microwave does the trick.
  2. Immediately, sandwich the softened candies between sheets of plastic wrap, waxed paper, or parchment paper. Gently roll out the candies until they become flat.
  3. Next, dip the flattened candies in powdered sugar, ensuring they’re nicely coated. After that, dip them in the chopped or ground pecans.
  4. Allow the candies to cool down, and then it’s time to indulge!

YUM UPDATE:

A lovely Facebook friend of mine shared an even more delectable idea! Cut the orange slices in half lengthwise and dip them in melted dark chocolate. Oh, the bliss it brings!
