One such contestant, Shawn, faced a challenging puzzle in the bonus round. At first, it seemed like he was stumped. The bonus round puzzle consisted of two words with a total of ten letters. The category chosen by Shawn was “Person,” and some popular letters were already revealed on the board. Shawn was given an opportunity to select three consonants and a vowel to uncover more letters.
Shawn chose the letters M, D, C, and A. These were smart choices, as previous winners would tell you. However, luck was not on Shawn’s side this time. Only four out of the ten letters appeared on the board, and none of them were the ones Shawn had guessed. This meant he had to solve the puzzle with only the given letters – a daunting task.
Pat Sajak couldn’t hide the challenge Shawn was facing and admitted, “That’s all you get to work with—obviously, it’s challenging.” But he encouraged Shawn to keep trying, reminding him that sometimes unexpected things happen on the show.
And that’s exactly what happened. Within seconds, Shawn managed to utter two words that turned out to be the solution. The crowd was stunned, including Sajak himself, who has been hosting the show for decades.
“I don’t get this game,” Sajak jokingly remarked, clearly impressed. He then revealed the amount of money Shawn would be taking home – a whopping $33,000, in addition to his previous winnings.
