Rod Stewart, the 78-year-old British rockstar, had to cancel his highly-anticipated show in Geelong, Australia, due to a bad case of strep throat. While many fans were understandably upset, Stewart took to Instagram to assure them that his health is not in any danger and that he plans to perform at his next show in Adelaide without any issues.

In an Instagram video, Stewart, looking well-rested and sporting spikey blond hair, addressed his fans in Adelaide, saying, “I had a slight setback here in Melbourne, I had strep throat, but I’m fine now. I’ll be there, and I’m looking forward to it.” This video came after one of his spokespeople confirmed that his performance in Adelaide is definitely still on.

Following his performance in Adelaide, Stewart will continue his tour in Sydney on Wednesday, March 29, and then head to the theater in Hunter Valley for another Australian show on April 1, 2023.

Stewart’s current tour in Australia is a collaboration with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens. Their first performance together was on March 11, 2023, in Perth, Australia.

While Stewart regrets disappointing his fans in Geelong, he expressed his gratitude for their support and promised to make it up to them in the future. His fans, although disappointed, are relieved to know that his health is not at risk and are eagerly looking forward to another opportunity to see him perform.
