When we invite animals into our lives, we discover the immense range of emotions they can express. While many people are familiar with their capacity for love and compassion, animals are capable of a wide array of other emotions as well.
Recently, this emotional depth was witnessed by individuals on a Safari. Parveen Kaswan was in a group, standing along an empty road, when something remarkable unfolded before their eyes.
The people lining the road were not mere onlookers. They were there for a crucial reason – to help a herd of elephants safely cross the road. But one particular elephant caught everyone off guard as it approached. As Kaswan observed, the elephant was carrying the lifeless body of a young elephant in her trunk.
With a solemn grace, the elephant made her way across the road, gently placing the small body on the other side. Other elephants from the herd followed, slowly crossing the road, pausing briefly to pay their respects to the fallen elephant.
Kaswan referred to this heartbreaking scene as a funeral procession. The family refused to abandon their baby. Eventually, the herd moved on, one by one, walking away from the road. However, a larger elephant tenderly scooped up the young elephant with its trunk, carrying it along the journey.
