Our idea of a family is to be born into a relationship with parents who love and want us. However, sometimes life takes unexpected turns, just like it did for Alba.

Alba, a little baby girl, was unfortunately rejected by her own mother. To make matters worse, another 20 families also rejected her. However, there was hope on the horizon.

Luca Trapanese, a gay man living in Italy, faced numerous challenges while trying to adopt a child. But eventually, an exception was made for him, and he was given the opportunity to adopt Alba, a girl with Down syndrome.

Although there were challenges along the way, Luca and Alba established a wonderful relationship that they proudly shared with the world. In 2017, when Alba was just 13 days old, Luca officially became her father.

Before Luca, 20 families had turned down the chance to adopt Alba because of her medical condition. But for Luca, Alba brought a sense of fulfillment and happiness that he had longed for. He took his role as a father seriously, drawing inspiration from his work at facilities for people with special needs.

Luca’s commitment to helping others stems from the loss of his best friend to cancer when they were both just 14 years old. Through Catholic charities, Luca devotes himself to those in need.

Even though Luca didn’t live with anyone or have a girlfriend, he embraced the opportunity to become Alba’s father wholeheartedly. Alba, a determined and sometimes stubborn child, is also social and loves dancing and singing.

Holding Alba for the first time was a scary moment for Luca, as he had never held a newborn baby before. But in that instant, he knew they were meant to be together.

Luca shares their journey through life on Instagram, where he has hundreds of thousands of followers. Despite facing the challenges of a pandemic, Luca and Alba have strengthened their bond and appreciate the time they get to spend together.

We wish Luca and Alba many years of happiness together as they navigate life, love, and family.
