She also made a guest appearance as a minor character named Vanna T. in the video game Paper Mario for Nintendo 64.
In 1987, Vanna White surprised fans when she graced the cover of Playboy magazine. Many were taken aback that such a wholesome celebrity would pose for a magazine known for its adult content. However, White explained that she made the decision due to financial difficulties. At the time, she was too embarrassed to ask her father for rent money, so she chose to do the photo shoot instead.
Reflecting on her choice, White admitted, “I shouldn’t be doing this, but I’m not going to ask my dad for money, so I’m just going to do it!” She later expressed remorse for her decision during an interview with Johnny Carson, saying, “I’m so sorry… I made a mistake, I’m sorry, and I just hope I don’t lose my job over it.”
Vanna White even took legal action against Playboy, suing them for $5.2 million for damaging her “family audience” reputation. Fortunately, Wheel of Fortune stood by her side, ensuring that her career remained intact.
