Indy Clinton, a 25-year-old mom from Sydney, Australia, recently faced a wave of criticism after she named her newborn daughter Bambi. Despite the backlash, Indy remains unfazed by the negativity.

Indy gained popularity on TikTok, a Chinese social media platform, where she shares her unique videos featuring her fashionable looks and her family. She took to TikTok to express her surprise when Love Islander Molly-Mae announced that she named her own daughter Bambi on Instagram, just like Indy.

Indy has been a fan of Disney’s iconic movie, Bambi, since her childhood. She even owns a storybook version of the film which she often reads to her 2-year-old son, Navy. Given her deep affection for Bambi, it seemed only natural for Indy to name her newborn daughter after her beloved Disney character.

Initially, Indy had planned to name her daughter Paloma. However, after meeting her little girl and being captivated by her sweet and curious nature, along with her big brown eyes, Indy couldn’t help but be reminded of the adorable Disney cartoon character. In an instant, she decided to abandon her original naming plan and named her child Bambi instead.

Although Indy’s daughter is now four months old, her extended family continues to express surprise and bewilderment over the choice of naming her after a Disney cartoon baby deer.

Reflecting on her decision, Indy shared her thoughts, “Four months ago, when I was giving birth, I was convinced Bambi was the most unique and unusual name that nobody would use. But hey, great minds think alike! We were all set on Paloma at first, but one night, when I was reading the book to Navy, it struck me – what about Bambi? From that moment onwards, it just stuck.”

While both Indy and Molly-Mae have faced criticism for choosing the same name for their daughters, Indy remains unbothered by the negativity because she genuinely loves the name and believes that unique names are the new trend. She views Bambi as a fitting choice to join the ranks of other unconventional names like Rivers, Bears, Forests, Stormis, and Wolfs.

Indy concludes, “In today’s world, people will criticize anything, so why not give them something to talk about? Bambi is a beautiful name, and it represents something special for me and my family.”
