Dolly Parton’s childhood home was a small, cramped cabin near the Little Pigeon River. Space was scarce, so spending time outside was a necessity. Surprisingly, Dolly did not encounter a toilet until she was eight years old, during a visit to her aunt’s house. She was quite apprehensive about using it, fearing that it might suck her in!
Dolly also recalls how they made their own soap and only bathed once a week during the winter months. However, in high school, daily baths became a necessity as she and her siblings shared the same bed, resulting in occasional accidents.
