Thankfully, a team of courageous firefighters arrived at the scene in the nick of time. They rescued Thomas, ensuring her safety after an incredibly nerve-wracking half-hour suspended in mid-air. Louisville firefighter Bryce Carden was one of the heroes involved in the rescue, and he recalled the surreal experience. “Once I reached her, she was super calm and collected, and allowed us to do what we do,” he said.
The dashcam footage played a vital role in the court proceedings against the pickup truck driver, Trevor Branham. He faced charges of endangerment and driving on a suspended license. In an emotional interview following the accident, Thomas shared her thoughts on the harrowing incident. She expressed her gratitude and faith in a higher power, stating that she believed God was listening to her prayers that day. Thinking about her young son during the terrifying ordeal was undoubtedly challenging for Thomas. She revealed, “It was really hard for me to think about leaving him behind on Earth.”
Although Thomas plans to return to work next month, she has decided to take a break from driving semi-trucks for now. Understandably, she also intends to avoid crossing the Clark Memorial Bridge, where the accident occurred. Despite experiencing anxiety after the crash, Thomas remains determined to fulfill her purpose in life and not let fear hold her back. She firmly believes that God saved her for a reason and wants her to live without fear.
