My brother and his girlfriend came over for dinner to catch up. Everything seemed fine until I caught his girlfriend going through my medicine cabinet without permission. I was taken aback and confronted her about it. She apologized, but the atmosphere was already tense. I finally asked them to leave to give myself some time to cool down.

The next day, my brother reached out to apologize. He explained that his girlfriend had been under a lot of stress and wasn’t thinking clearly. While I understood, I made it clear that boundaries must be respected and that what she did was not acceptable.

After some discussion, we agreed to move past the incident, but with the understanding that it should never happen again. It was important for me to set boundaries and ensure my personal space was respected.

Was it wrong for me to ask them to leave? Maybe, maybe not. But what mattered most was establishing boundaries and maintaining the respect for personal space.
