Are you tired of swiping right on dating apps and having your potential matches suddenly stop replying? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Ghosting, the act of suddenly ending all communication without explanation, has become quite common in the world of online dating.

Expert reveals what it means if someone is taking a while to reply to your messages

In fact, a survey conducted last year revealed that 25 percent of adults using dating apps have reported being ghosted. So, if you find yourself wondering why someone is taking forever to reply to your messages, there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation.

According to body language expert Adrianne Carter, we often jump to the conclusion that slow responders are simply not interested. However, Carter suggests that this may not always be the case.

In fact, delayed responders who are sporadic with their communication patterns could actually be more introverted and value deep, meaningful interactions over a high quantity of exchanges. So instead of immediately writing potential dates off, it might be worth giving them some time.

Tinder, one of the most popular dating platforms, conducted a study that found 77 percent of its members aged between 18 and 24 reply to a crush within 30 minutes.

According to Carter, this indicates their desire to show genuine interest and avoid playing games. However, it’s important to remember that online communication can be misleading, and it’s best to move the conversation offline as soon as possible. Meeting in person allows you to truly gauge if there is a spark between you.

While messaging and online interactions have become the norm, Carter emphasizes that face-to-face communication is still the top-ranked style for Tinder users. This means that meeting in person is the most effective way to really get to know someone.

So, the next time your match takes a while to reply, don’t jump to conclusions. They may just be an introvert who prefers deeper connections or maybe they’re just busy. And remember, don’t always take a message at face value. Plan that coffee date and see if the chemistry translates into real life.
