Katy Perry Announces Her Departure from ‘American Idol’

During an appearance on Monday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Katy Perry dropped a bombshell. The beloved judge announced that she will be leaving ‘American Idol’ after seven seasons.

“I believe this will probably be my last show, my last season for Idol,” Perry revealed to Kimmel. “I mean, I adore Idol. It has brought me closer to the American spirit, but I need to find my own rhythm, you know what I mean, Jimmy?”

Even the other judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, were kept in the dark about Perry’s decision. The revelation came as a surprise to them as well.

Perry, who joined the show in 2018 when it was relaunched by ABC, confessed that she has been to the studio, but had not shared her intentions with Bryan and Richie. However, she hinted that they may have sensed that something was up.

“Although I adore the show, I long to travel the world and perhaps release some new music,” Perry shared.

While we will miss Katy Perry on ‘American Idol,’ we are excited to see what surprises she has in store for her dedicated fans. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
