Lauren Wasser, a remarkable Californian model, experienced a life-altering tragedy in 2012 that most of us can’t even fathom. It all started with what seemed like flu symptoms, but turned out to be toxic shock syndrome (TSS) caused by bacterial toxins from a tampon she was using. TSS is a dangerous infection that can occur when tampons are left in for extended periods of time.

This devastating ordeal landed Lauren in a coma for over a week. When she finally regained consciousness, she learned that her right leg had to be amputated due to the infection. She was just 24 years old at the time. Little did she know that her nightmare was far from over.

Recently, Lauren has faced another heartbreaking setback. Doctors had to amputate her remaining leg. However, despite the challenges she continues to endure, Lauren is determined to ensure that no other woman has to go through the same harrowing experience.

“In a few months, I’m inevitably going to have my other leg amputated. There’s nothing I can do about it. But what I can do is help make sure that this doesn’t happen to others,” Lauren shared with The Daily Mail. She has even taken legal action against Kotex Natural Balance, the tampon brand that caused her severe reaction.

Understanding the importance of raising awareness, Lauren emphasizes the significance of knowing the potential dangers of tampons. She highlights that the vagina, being the most absorbent part of a woman’s body and a gateway to vital organs, requires consumers to be informed about the risks involved.

In her own words, Lauren expressed her mission, stating, “Life is about to be so different, again! I’m in great spirits though and ready for my next chapter.” She posted a photo on her social media with Paralympic athlete Amy Purdy, who has also undergone amputation, demonstrating her courage and perseverance.

Lauren’s story is one that deserves to be shared. By spreading awareness about the potential dangers of tampons, we can ensure that all women are well-informed and empowered to make choices that prioritize their health and well-being.

Please help Lauren in her noble quest to protect others from the nightmare she endured. Share her story and help prevent further tragedies caused by this everyday product.
