On July 26, a devastating plane crash took the lives of three members of The Nelsons, a beloved southern gospel band from Atlanta, Georgia. The band members, along with four others, were en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise in Alaska when the accident occurred in Wyoming around 3 PM PST.

Tragic Plane Crash

The Nelsons, known for their amazing music and heartfelt performances, had gained a worldwide following. Their songs, including popular hits like “Come Morning,” “O For a Thousand Tongues,” and “Greater Things,” have touched the hearts of many.

The tragic accident claimed the lives of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, as well as the pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families during this difficult time.

The management group of The Nelsons has rallied together to support the grieving families. They have gathered with Bill and Gloria Gaither, fellow artists, to offer prayers, songs, and comfort. Autumn Nelon and her spouse were not on the plane and are returning home to be with their loved ones.

As the investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board continues, let us keep the families of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler, Larry and Melissa Haynie, and Melodi Hodges in our thoughts and prayers. Their loss is deeply felt by the entire gospel music community.
