I have been working as a maid in a hotel for quite some time now. One day, I was called to a room where loud music was blaring, making it difficult for the guests to hear my knocks. I persisted, knocking louder, until finally, the door swung open. To my dismay, it was the hotel owner’s daughter and her troublemaking friend. They had a history of causing mischief and this time, they decided to target me.

They started off by calling me their “servant” and claimed they had been waiting for me for a whole 5 minutes. I tried explaining the situation, but they refused to listen. As if that wasn’t enough, one of them had the audacity to put a cowbell necklace on me, laughing as they declared it my “new uniform.” It was truly humiliating.

However, the situation took an unexpected turn. In the midst of their laughter, their faces froze in horror as they looked behind me. I turned around to see the hotel owner, Mr. Thompson, marching towards his daughter and her friend with a face red with anger.

Now, Mr. Thompson was a tall man with a stern demeanor. He rarely raised his voice, but the intensity in his eyes was enough to silence a room. He briefly glanced at me, his gaze softening for a moment, before directing his attention back to his daughter and her friend.

With a low and dangerous tone, he demanded, “What is going on here?” The two girls stammered, trying to come up with an excuse, but their words faltered under their father’s piercing gaze.

“D-Dad, we were just joking around,” his daughter managed to mutter, her face pale as a sheet.

“Joking?” Mr. Thompson repeated, his voice growing colder. “By humiliating one of our staff? Do you think that’s acceptable behavior?”

The two girls stood there, speechless and ashamed. It was evident that they knew they were in serious trouble. Turning to me, Mr. Thompson gently removed the cowbell necklace and apologized sincerely, assuring me that this kind of behavior would not be tolerated.

Feeling a sense of relief, I excused myself from the room, and as I sat in the staff break room, the feelings of humiliation began to fade away. I was comforted by the fact that justice had been served. Shortly after, Mr. Thompson entered the room to check on me, expressing his apologies once again.

“Maria, again, I am deeply sorry for what happened. You didn’t deserve any of that. My daughter will be issuing a formal apology to you.”

I expressed my gratitude, my voice trembling with emotion. Mr. Thompson acknowledged my value as a member of the team and reassured me that any disrespectful behavior would not be tolerated. It was comforting to know that my employer had my back.

Later that day, the owner’s daughter, Emily, sought me out and offered a heartfelt apology. She seemed genuinely remorseful and her previous arrogance had transformed into humility.

“I’m really sorry, Maria. I was out of line and I shouldn’t have treated you like that. It was mean and disrespectful,” Emily whispered, her voice filled with sincerity.

I accepted her apology, hoping that she had learned a valuable lesson. To my surprise, Emily’s attitude underwent a drastic change from that day on. She became kinder, more respectful, and even went out of her way to help whenever she could.

This incident served as a reminder that karma had its way of making things right. No matter how tough life may seem, there is always hope for justice and change.
