A Soldier’s Emotional Reunion With His Daughter

First Lieutenant Daniel Oglesby, who had been deployed for eight months to Southeast Asia, was finally returning home to Fort Carson, Colorado. And waiting for him with open arms was his young daughter, Karis.

Two-year-old Karis had been missing her father terribly during his time away. As his fellow soldiers stood at attention during a military homecoming ceremony, Lt. Oglesby couldn’t resist breaking formation to embrace his beloved daughter.

Running across the gymnasium floor, Karis, with her dress adorned with stars and stripes, captured the hearts of everyone in attendance. Oglesby couldn’t hold back his emotions and eagerly reciprocated her loving hug.

“Cara, she made eye contact with me in the crowd and decided she wanted to say hello a little early, so she ran up and gave me a big hug,” shared Oglesby in an interview with Fox 21 News. “I didn’t have the heart to deny my little baby a hug, so I had to bend over and give her a hug and kiss on the forehead.”

The heartwarming reunion brought tears of joy to the Oglesby family and touched the hearts of all those who witnessed it. Their emotional embrace reminded us of the sacrifices that soldiers and their families make for our country.
