A Starbucks customer posted a viral video claiming she found a full-sized grasshopper inside her Pumpkin Loaf. She asked viewers their thoughts on whether Starbucks did enough to make up for her unpleasant experience.

What happened?

Teryn (@teryn1989) has garnered over 380,000 views on her TikTok. In the brief video, Teryn uses the voice-over feature to narrate her story, accompanied by several pictures and videos of her order.

She begins by showing a receipt from Starbucks indicating that she ordered a warmed Pumpkin Loaf on August 1. The next photo reveals a bite-sized portion of the loaf with an insect leg sticking out visibly.

“I got my usual caramel macchiato and pumpkin loaf. When I was on my last bite, I found a huge grasshopper,” she explained. Teryn added more photos showing the grasshopper next to a quarter for size comparison.

She called Starbucks after discovering the insect, and the company offered her a full refund plus a $20 gift card. However, Teryn asked her audience, “Let me know if you think that they should’ve done more for me.”

Before concluding her video, Teryn included a clip of herself picking apart the loaf with toothpicks to extract the entire grasshopper.
