Alfonso Ribeiro: A Beloved Entertainer and Resilient Father

Alfonso Ribeiro, a multi-talented entertainer, has left an indelible mark on television and entertainment. Born on September 21, 1971, in New York City, Ribeiro began his career as a child actor, but rose to prominence in the 1990s as the beloved character Carlton Banks on the hit comedy show "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." His portrayal of Carlton, Will Smith’s preppy and dance-loving cousin, became legendary and is still remembered today.

Ribeiro’s perfect comedic timing and trademark dance skills, including the famed "Carlton Dance," made him a fan favorite and a cultural phenomenon. But his talent extends beyond just acting. Ribeiro has shown his versatility in the entertainment world by appearing on various television shows like "America’s Funniest Home Videos" and even participating in the 19th season of "Dancing with the Stars." He has also worked as a director, writer, producer, and has lent his voice to animated characters.

What sets Ribeiro apart is his lasting appeal and his ability to connect with audiences of all ages. He remains a revered personality in the entertainment industry, leaving an everlasting impression on both the industry and the hearts of people worldwide.

In a recent update, Ribeiro shared some uplifting news about his daughter Ava Sue’s recovery from a scooter accident. The four-year-old had to undergo emergency surgery after falling off her sit-down scooter and sustaining significant injuries. Ribeiro expressed his gratitude for the urgent care and surgery provided by @kareskinmd in an Instagram post, acknowledging the bravery of his daughter during the procedure.

Now, Ribeiro gives an upbeat update, stating that his daughter is doing great and recovering wonderfully. As they prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, Ava is expected to be there, showcasing her progress. Ribeiro emphasized that the recovery process is slow but going as planned, and Ava is doing fantastically well.

Reflecting on the accident in May, Ribeiro mentioned that he wasn’t present when it happened but their nanny was there and immediately realized the seriousness of the situation, prompting them to seek medical attention.

Ava is the daughter of Ribeiro and his second wife, Angela Unkrich, whom he married in 2012. They also have two sons, nine-year-old Alfonso "AJ" Lincoln and eight-year-old Anders Reyn. Ribeiro is also a father to Sienna, his daughter from a previous marriage.

Proudly discussing Ava’s tenacity, Ribeiro shared that she is still able to move around despite the healing scar. He emphasized the importance of the scar gradually fading away for her emotional well-being. Ribeiro understands that for a parent, any injury to their child can be distressing and acknowledged the concern and love parents have for their children, highlighting the emotional impact of such incidents.

Ava’s mother, Angela, also took to Instagram to share her thoughts at the time of the accident. She expressed her intuition about a potential visit to the emergency room and cautioned against any activities that could potentially lead to harm. Unfortunately, her warning was forgotten, and Ava had the accident the day before her birthday.

Despite the unfortunate incident, Angela praised her daughter’s resilience and requested extra cuddles to comfort the young girl after what was not an ideal way to spend her last day as a three-year-old.

The Ribeiro family is grateful for the support they have received during this challenging time. They remain hopeful and optimistic about Ava’s continued recovery, and their experience serves as a reminder to cherish every moment with loved ones.
