Losing a child is a devastating experience for any parent, but imagine the heartache of losing two at the same time. This unimaginable nightmare became a reality for Brian Trumbl on August 1, 2024. His twin daughters, Hailey and Shelby, had set off for an enjoyable day at an amusement park in Rochester, New York. Little did Brian know, this would be the last time he would see his precious girls alive.

As the hours ticked by and the girls failed to check in or return home, Brian grew increasingly worried. Desperate to find them, he sent countless text messages to their phones, hoping for a response. When his efforts went unanswered, Brian turned to the Find My Friends app to locate his daughters and their missing phones.

Filled with a mix of hope and fear, Brian raced to the app’s coordinates, only to find the road blocked off by police. His heart sank as he learned the devastating truth – there had been a car crash, and both Hailey and Shelby had tragically lost their lives.

Hailey, just 19 years old, and her 17-year-old sister Shelby were involved in a collision on Ira Hill Road. Their Chevy Cobalt, traveling east, veered into the opposite lane, colliding with a 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by Robin Latham, a 59-year-old from Tully, NY. Robin survived the crash and is now in stable condition at Syracuse University Hospital.

The incident is still under investigation, with many unanswered questions lingering in the air. Meanwhile, the community has rallied together to support Brian and his family through this unfathomable loss. A fundraising page was set up to assist with medical bills and funeral costs, and the outpouring of support has far surpassed the initial goal.

As news of the tragedy spread, the local school district, where Hailey and Shelby had graduated from, also expressed their profound sadness. In a heartfelt statement, they acknowledged the impact their loss had on the students, faculty, and the entire community.

Let us remember Hailey and Shelby, two bright souls taken too soon, and may they find eternal peace.
