Beth's two youngest daughters

At the age of 15, Beth Hyde’s life took a profound turn when she visited an orphanage in Ecuador. Inspired by the children she met there, Beth knew that caring for orphans would be her life’s mission. After finishing college, she set her sights on working overseas in orphanages, but fate had a different plan for her.

One day, after attending a church service, Beth decided to take a leap of faith and reach out to fostering agencies. At just 23 years old and single, she faced plenty of skepticism and doubts from others. Many called her “crazy” for wanting to foster at such a young age. But Beth remained undeterred.

When Beth was 24, she became the foster mother to two beautiful girls, Ava and Sadie, aged two and four. Going from having no kids to two overnight proved to be a challenging transition for Beth. She had to navigate the complexities of motherhood, trauma, and their unique needs. There were moments when she felt overwhelmed and under-qualified, but she never gave up. As Beth says, becoming a foster mom was like being handed a child and a pile of information all at once. Despite the difficulties, she knew it was the best gift she could ever receive.

Beth and her foster children

Ten months later, Beth received another request – to foster a one-month-old baby girl named Nora. Now in her early twenties, Beth suddenly found herself with three foster kids. But this time, the transition was smoother. Beth’s home became a place of love and stability for these children.

In January 2017, Beth made a life-changing decision – she decided to adopt her three foster children, making them a permanent part of her family. She temporarily closed her home to focus on bonding with her new daughters.

By July 2018, Beth’s home was open again, and she fostered an extraordinary little girl named Mia, who was born prematurely. Four months later, fate intervened once more. Nora’s biological mother gave birth to another baby girl, Lucy, and chose Beth to be her loving mother. Beth embraced her new role and ended up adopting both Lucy and Mia, now a single parent of five beautiful daughters.

Life took another miraculous turn when Beth met Marc, a fellow single parent, in 2020. They connected through an interview about foster care for a podcast. Fate had brought them together at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, and their bond grew stronger with each passing day. Within a month, Beth knew that Marc was the man she would marry.

In 2021, Beth and Marc tied the knot, solidifying their love and commitment to each other. Marc also became the loving father to Beth’s five daughters, expanding their family to nine. Their home is now filled with laughter, love, and the joy of watching their children grow and play together.

Beth reflects on their unique and beautiful family: “I love being part of a big family. I cherish the interactions and playfulness between all the kids. Our house is always bustling with love and noise. It’s a constant challenge to stay on top of the laundry, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We are all honored to be part of each other’s lives. We were once strangers, but now we are a family. It’s a privilege.”

Beth and Marc’s story continues to inspire others. Some people can’t believe that they have seven kids and are only 30 years old. But for Beth, age is just a number. Love knows no bounds, and their family is a testament to that.
