Unable to pay for his provisions, a veteran turns around to hear a customer say “It’s our turn.”

This veteran’s story is truly touching.

When a news crew in Las Vegas learned about the difficult situation a veteran was facing, they knew they had to help. The Fox 5 Surprise Squad decided to visit a local Albertsons supermarket on a sunny day to do something special for the community. They randomly selected customers and paid for their groceries.

Leading the team was Dave Hall, who approached several people who were about to check out. Each time he asked if he could pay for their groceries, it brought joy to their day. The team not only paid for the purchases of strangers, but they also identified regular customers who needed extra help, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.

During their visit, Dave had the opportunity to meet Stephanie, an incapacitated veteran who relied on a wheelchair for mobility. Stephanie shared that she was struggling to make ends meet and had only $50 left. The news anchor was determined to help, and he paid for all of Stephanie’s supplies, leaving her incredibly grateful.

While interacting with Stephanie, Dave noticed a man standing behind her. He asked if the man was her husband, but it was revealed that he was a friend of Stephanie’s husband. Larry, another veteran, had started a charitable organization called Bones For Blankets, which focused on donating blankets to homeless veterans. This cause was close to Larry’s heart because he had tragically lost three of his own brothers who had frozen to death.

Larry explained how Stephanie’s husband was often away as a truck driver, and he provided companionship and assistance to Stephanie, who faced challenges due to her disability. Larry told the Surprise Squad that no veteran should go through what Stephanie was experiencing.

Touched by Larry’s story and his service to the community, Dave insisted that Larry should not leave the store without the Surprise Squad team paying for his groceries as well. Larry had only planned to purchase dish soap and candy, but Dave emphasized, “You served us. It’s our turn to serve you now.”

Larry was filled with gratitude as he went through the store, choosing whatever he wanted. The total came to $278, and Larry could not hold back tears as Dave and the team settled the bill.

“This is just overwhelming. I’ve been taking care of myself since I was 13,” Larry expressed emotionally.
