Imagine driving along when suddenly, you come across a peculiar animal on the road. It looks like a deer, but there’s something different about it – it’s completely white! You’d think it’s impossible, right? Well, an extraordinary incident like this actually happened to a truck driver in California!

As the driver was going about his journey, he spotted a white animal lying in the middle of the road. Acting swiftly, he applied the brakes and approached cautiously. To his surprise, it was a deer with a beautiful white coat. At first, he mistook it for a lamb due to its snowy appearance.

This unique deer is an albino, which means it has retained its white markings throughout its life. Unlike other deer that grow into a darker shade, this fawn remains bright white. It’s not unusual to see albino deer among the regular ones, but finding a fawn like this all alone is quite uncommon.

Upon rescuing this special deer, he was given the name Spirit. At just three weeks old, Spirit was incredibly fortunate to have been saved from harm on the road. Now, with the help of a dedicated team of wildlife experts, Spirit is on the road to recovery.

Diane Nicholas, the president of the shelter, has a big heart for animals in need. She takes in orphaned deer who are too weak to survive on their own, especially when they are young. Spirit is under her care and making great progress. “Eat to put on weight!” says Stratton-Quick, referring to Spirit’s healthy appetite.

Over the next six months, the goal is to prepare Spirit for a return to the wild. This involves teaching him important skills like finding his own food and socializing with other deer. With the driver’s timely intervention, Spirit has been located safe and sound. It brings us joy to know that this beautiful deer is thriving and on the path to reunite with nature.

Let’s hope that in the months to come, Spirit will gain even more strength and be able to roam the wilderness once again, sharing his smiles with the world!
