Protecting Our Furry Family Members
We treat our dogs like family, giving them love and care. So, imagine the heartache and devastation when a speeding car shatters their world in an instant, taking away their vitality and future. Losing a beloved canine companion is a pain that cuts deep, touching our very souls. Unfortunately, many people have experienced this heartbreak due to negligence from drivers.
Taking a Stand for Change
One family, devastated by their own loss, decided to take action. They erected a sign on their lawn, shocking the neighborhood with its bold message. The words were like a wake-up call to speeding drivers. “We buried our dog last week because you won’t slow down,” the sign read. “If you hit one of my kids, your family may be burying you.” The powerful message quickly grabbed attention and sparked discussions.
Support from the Community
The image of the sign made its way to social media, where it gained widespread support. People couldn’t understand why some drivers were in such a hurry through neighborhoods and parking lots. “What’s the logic in that?” one person questioned. The majority of users applauded the strong warning from the sign’s author. A Facebook user expressed, “Love the sign. People drive way too fast in neighborhoods. So why is there this problem? Well, it’s because people are f**king idiots. Plain and simple.”
A Difference of Opinion
However, not everyone agreed with the dog owner’s approach. Some argued that the dog was allowed to roam too freely and that owners should take more responsibility. “Keep your dog on a leash! If you cared about your fur friend, you would take better care of them,” one person commented. Another added, “Speeding is bad, but your dog and kids are your responsibility to keep them out of the street.”
A Battle for Safety
Sadly, this may not be the last time we see such a sign in our neighborhoods. Seven years ago, Kevin Jackman from Middletown, New Jersey, felt the same frustration and took matters into his own hands. Determined to make a change, he created a sign with a powerful message, aimed at urging drivers to prioritize safety. Kevin’s sign read, “Last week, my dog was tragically struck because you chose not to slow down. If you hit a child, your family will be left burying you.” Kevin’s sign had a significant impact on his community and served as a poignant reminder to be cautious on the road.
