The talented artist, known for his appearances in numerous Tyler Perry plays, tragically lost his life at the age of 44. Zuri rose to fame with his exceptional performances on America’s Got Talent, captivating audiences with his singing talent as part of The CraigLewis Band. The duo’s incredible talents earned them a spot in the grand finals of the reality show’s tenth season. Their performances were nothing short of extraordinary.
To the shock and disappointment of his fans, Zuri’s passing came as a complete surprise. He and his singing partner had been scheduled to perform at The King’s Fest on October 30, 2022, in Camilla, Georgia. Unfortunately, due to this unexpected tragedy, the show has now been canceled.
In addition to his work as a singer, Zuri Craig also made his mark as a producer with the play Soul Food Live, set to open on November 20, 2022, at the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, Georgia.
Prior to his appearance on America’s Got Talent, Zuri showcased his acting prowess in Tyler Perry’s musicals. Notably, he portrayed the role of Donnie, a seventeen-year-old sixth grader, in the play Madea’s Big Happy Family, staged at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood in 2010. He also captivated audiences with his portrayal of Japan Mansell, Madea’s virginal son, in A Madea Christmas, performed at the Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta in 2011.
Reflecting on his final acting venture, Zuri Craig lent his voice to the character of a preacher in OurSomewhere Digital Products’ podcast, The Color Purple Audio Experience: A Benefit for Black Womxn, which premiered on November 26.
