Following Depp’s victory in the defamation lawsuit a few months ago, he has been globetrotting. Meanwhile, Heard has chosen to isolate herself in Spain with her supportive friend. Since the trial, Heard has focused on her daughter and creating a fresh start away from Depp’s overwhelming influence.
Financially, Heard is currently facing a setback. As a result of the verdict in Depp’s favor, she is expected to pay $8.3 million. However, Heard is appealing the case, hoping for a significant reduction or a complete removal of the penalty.
Heard’s chances of evading the $8.3 million penalty seem slim. Her initial appeal request has already been denied by a judge. Heard had requested a mistrial, wanting the proceedings to be conducted again in front of a televised audience, as if it were the first time.
The appeal motion was filed on July 1, 2022. Heard’s legal team claimed discrepancies in the jury, arguing that the selection process and the final composition of the jury had enough inconsistencies to justify overturning the current verdict.
