There’s nothing the internet loves more than a good conspiracy theory involving celebrities. And one theory that has captured the attention of many is the claim that Avril Lavigne had a body double named Melissa. This strange theory suggests that Avril actually died in 2003 and was replaced by a lookalike.

According to the theory, Avril grew tired of the pressures of celebrity life and decided to hire Melissa to stand in for her at public events. The theory further suggests that Avril’s record company, in order to keep the profits rolling, decided to continue using Melissa as Avril full-time.

Avril recently addressed these conspiracy theories in an interview with Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy. The 39-year-old singer found the whole situation amusing. She said, “I mean, it’s just funny to me.

On one end, everyone’s like, ‘You look the exact same. You haven’t aged a day.’ But then other people are like, there’s a conspiracy theory that I’m not me.”

Avril laughed off the claims and reassured her fans that she is, without a doubt, the original Avril Lavigne. She also mentioned that she believes other artists have faced similar conspiracy theories.

During the interview, Alex Cooper commented on Avril’s seemingly unchanged appearance over the years, saying, “I’m telling you what’s crazy is you haven’t aged. I’m staring at you. And, like, I’m picturing you with your auburn hair. And I’m like, oh my God. You literally look the same from when you were younger.”

With Avril squashing these conspiracy theories, fans can now look forward to her upcoming projects. This summer, Avril will be releasing a Greatest Hits album featuring 20 of her most popular songs. And if that’s not enough, she will also embark on a Greatest Hits tour, starting in May in Vancouver, Canada, and making stops in various cities across the US, including Inglewood, Las Vegas, Charlotte, and Chicago.

Even fans in the UK and Europe will get a chance to see Avril in action, as she will be performing at several festivals, including Glastonbury in June.

So, rest assured, Avril Lavigne is very much Avril Lavigne, and she’s here to stay.
