Remembering Kirstie Alley

Kirstie Alley, best known for her role on the hit television show Cheers, passed away at the age of 71 after a brief battle with colon cancer. Her family recently discovered her illness, as colon cancer is often referred to as the “silent killer” due to its symptoms taking longer to manifest compared to other types of cancers.

In a heartfelt social media post, her family expressed their sorrow and celebrated Kirstie’s strength and love for life:

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

An Iconic Actress

Although Kirstie Alley will always be remembered as the beloved manager of the Cheers bar, she had a multifaceted life outside of television. She was an active member of the Church of Scientology and was known for engaging in public disagreements with other celebrities.

Heartfelt Tributes

Fellow celebrities were quick to express their grief and pay tribute to Kirstie Alley. John Travolta, who had a romantic relationship with Kirstie in the past, shared:

“Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”

Ted Danson, who played the head bartender on Cheers, fondly recalled a memorable scene from the show and expressed his deep sadness:

“Her ability to play a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown was both moving and hysterically funny. She made me laugh 30 years ago when she shot that scene, and she made me laugh today just as hard. I am so sad and so grateful for all the times she made me laugh.”
