His wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, raised the alarm after he failed to return by 7.30pm. Greek police immediately launched an active investigation into his disappearance.

According to Senior Police Spokesman Constantina Dimoglidou, Mosley was at the beach with another couple before deciding to head back to his home in the area of Pedi of Symi. Unfortunately, he forgot his phone at the beach, making it impossible to track him. Efforts to locate him have been ongoing, including the involvement of the fire brigade to assist in searching the area.

Earlier today, a body was discovered in a rocky area beside Agia Marina on Symi. The island’s deputy mayor, Nikitas Grillas, confirmed that the body found was indeed Dr. Michael Mosley. This development brings an unfortunate end to the search efforts.

When Greek police were informed of Mosley’s disappearance, they requested assistance from the fire service. A team of six firefighters, along with a vehicle and a drone team, arrived from Rhodes to aid in the search. However, Symi’s Mayor, Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, expressed doubts about Mosley still being in the area. He stated that the controlled and populated nature of the region made it unlikely for someone to remain undiscovered.

Local rescue efforts included divers looking in the water and the involvement of the Coast Guard. Symi’s Coast Guard deployed patrol and private boats to comb the area for any traces of the missing TV doctor.

Aside from his television appearances, Mosley is a well-known advocate of intermittent fasting, with an impressive list of published books, including The Fast Diet, The Fast 800, and Fast Asleep. He is also recognized for hosting BBC Radio 4’s Just One Thing.
