Cheryl had been working at Hilbrae rescue kennels as a dogwalker when JD first arrived

JD, a Dobermann, has been living in a rescue kennel for the past seven years without finding a forever home. But thanks to the dedication of a kind-hearted dog walker named Cheryl, JD will soon have his own comfortable and loving home.

Cheryl, who has spent a lot of time with JD during her work at Hillbrae Kennels, has decided to raise funds to convert a large unit at her own house into a special living space for JD. This new home will be free of bars and provide JD with the comfort and care he deserves.

While the team at Hillbrae Kennels had been patiently waiting for JD to find a family, his biting history made it difficult for him to be adopted. However, after bonding with JD and witnessing his gentle nature, Cheryl decided to take a chance on him.

Cheryl, from Telford, Shropshire, is now fundraising to convert the run-down unit on her property into a safe and cozy home for JD. She believes that JD deserves to experience the love and warmth of a real home before it’s too late.

JD’s journey began when he was handed over to Hilbrae rescue kennels after his owner passed away. He had nowhere to go and had difficulty trusting others. Cheryl recalls the day she first met JD, sitting on the floor outside his kennel trying to make friends. As the hours passed, JD started accepting affection through the bars, forming a bond with Cheryl.

Over the next few weeks, Cheryl continued to build a connection with JD by taking him for walks and playing with him at the kennels. However, JD had a few behavioral problems and had bitten people before. This led to restrictions for his safety and the safety of others, making it challenging for him to find a home.

As time went on, Cheryl started a new business and left the kennels, but she never forgot about JD. Seven years later, she saw how JD had slowed down and realized she had the opportunity to make a real difference in his life.

Cheryl is determined to give JD the loving home he deserves, especially now that he’s older and not in the best health. Her goal is to create a comfortable and safe environment for him where he can live out his final days. She hopes that by helping JD, another dog in need can take his place at the kennel.

With the support of generous donors, Cheryl has raised almost £2,000 towards her £8,000 target. She has already received a significant pledge of £1,250. The fundraiser is ongoing, and Cheryl is optimistic that she will reach her goal to give JD the home he deserves.

In Cheryl’s own words, “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.” Let’s come together and help bring hope and happiness to JD’s life.
