8 retirees headed to Poland to see Taylor Swift: 'We're in our golden era'

Do you think you’re ever too old to enjoy a Taylor Swift concert? Well, these eight amazing women from The Villages retirement community in Florida don’t think so! They have banded together to fulfill a shared dream of attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Warsaw, Poland. Barbara O’Hare, Donna Brownell, Vicki Dinou, Elaine Helstrom, Margaret Barton, Lisa Kaplan, Lyn MacGuire, and Dorice Kreinbring, aged between 64 and 75, are counting down the days to their adventure.

It all started during one of their weekly get-togethers called “Martini Monday” nights. Margaret Barton, 75, recounted the incredible experience she had attending a Taylor Swift concert with her daughter and granddaughter in Michigan last June. It was a truly awe-inspiring event that left her speechless. Impressed by Taylor Swift’s ability to create such a magical atmosphere, Barton knew she had to share the experience with her friends.

“When Margaret told us about her plans, we thought she was joking,” said Vicki Dinou. But Barton was serious. Within just 30 minutes, she had found the perfect tickets for them, and the next thing they knew, they were planning a trip to Poland.

On July 29, this extraordinary group of friends will make their way to Poland, where they will attend the much-anticipated Taylor Swift concert on August 1. But that’s not all—these adventurous ladies will make the most of their time in the country by exploring its rich culture, sampling delicious vodka, and even taking cooking classes. And guess what? Margaret Barton is generously covering all the costs of the entire trip!

Needless to say, the news left the group in tears of joy and gratitude. “It’s overwhelming that someone can be so generous from the bottom of her heart,” said Elaine Helstrom. “It’s the most unselfish act of kindness and generosity that I’ve ever experienced.”

To show their excitement and solidarity, the group has decided to change their “Martini Mondays” to “Taylor Tuesdays.” They even had special shirts made, featuring their smiling faces inside the Eras Tour logo, which they will proudly wear to the concert and on the plane. They have also chosen to sport friendship bracelets and pink water bottles labeled “Swiftie” to further showcase their love for Taylor Swift. And to top it all off, they have a professional songbook to help them learn all of Swift’s hits before the big night.

With songs like “Anti-Hero,” “Karma,” “Shake It Off,” and “The Man” on their favorites list, the group is eager to have a truly inspiring experience. Margaret Barton couldn’t be more thrilled to share this incredible journey with her friends. “I think it means more to me than it does to them,” she said.

For these eight amazing women, this trip is about more than just attending a concert. It’s a celebration of friendship and a testament to the bond they share. “This is the Eras Tour… we’re in our golden era,” said Elaine Helstrom, expressing the group’s excitement and anticipation.

As they embark on this unforgettable adventure, the group is filled with gratitude, love, and excitement. They can’t wait to make even more cherished memories together.
