'Experienced' Pilot Of Brazilian Plane Crash Identified. Youngest Victim Was 3 Years Old

The recent plane crash in Brazil has left the world in shock. The tragic incident, accompanied by a chilling video of the plane spiraling out of control, has claimed the lives of all 62 people on board.

Voepass, the airline operating the flight, has revealed that the twin-engine turboprop plane was en route to Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport when the accident occurred. Among the 62 victims were 58 passengers and four crew members.

The pilot, Captain Danilo Santos Romano, 35, was the first victim to be identified. With a decade of experience as a pilot, he had been working with Voepass Airlines since 2022 and had accumulated over 4500 flight hours. Described as always willing to help and constantly sporting a smile, Captain Romano was known for his passion for sports, having recently participated in a 15K race.

The co-pilot, 61-year-old Humberto de Campos Alencar e Silva, also lost his life in the crash. The flight attendants, Débora Soper Avila, 29, and Rubia Silva de Lima, 41, were among the victims as well.

The victim list includes people from different walks of life. An elderly couple in their 70s were on board, along with 3-year-old Liz Ibba dos Santos, who was accompanied by her 41-year-old father. Additionally, several doctors were on their way to a seminar when the tragic event unfolded. The hospital they worked for praised their dedication, affection, and respect towards their patients and shared the profound loss their absence creates.

As of Saturday afternoon, approximately 30 bodies had been recovered from the crash site, with efforts underway to retrieve the remaining bodies by the end of the day.

The cause of the crash remains unknown. The flight had been uneventful during its hour and a half in the air, with no distress calls from the crew and no adverse weather conditions reported. The airline’s CEO stated, “The entire crew was competent. We are waiting for access to all communications between the pilot and the control tower to have a broader understanding of what happened.”

The black box, containing voice recordings and flight data, has been recovered and will be analyzed for further insights into the circumstances that led to the plane’s rapid descent of over 13,000 feet in just one minute. Eyewitnesses captured footage of the plane falling before it disappeared behind the trees. Fortunately, no one on the ground was injured when the wreckage landed near a home.

The investigation into this tragic event continues as authorities strive to uncover the cause and provide answers to the grieving families and the public at large.
