The heartwrenching final words from the father who tragically lost his life in a firework accident have been revealed. For Allen Ray McGrew, who was celebrating the 4th of July at a block party in Summerville, Dorchester County, the festive mood quickly turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.

In videos shared online, the happy 41-year-old from South Carolina could be seen dancing and celebrating in an Uncle Sam costume, surrounded by friends and family. But the joyous atmosphere took a devastating turn when Allen decided to “show off” by holding a lit firework on his head.

“I thought he was just showboating before he set it on the ground. I didn’t realize he had already lit it,” Allen’s wife Paige McGrew told The Post and Courier. Tragically, the firework exploded, causing immediate head injuries that claimed Allen’s life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Allen’s family is now speaking out against any negative portrayals, emphasizing that he was not a “drunken fool.” They describe him as a patriotic man who loved life and looked forward to celebrating Independence Day every year. He had been excited about his son’s recent engagement and was living his best life that night.

In the midst of the festivities, Allen had taken a moment to embrace his wife and son, expressing his love for them. “You are my rock, and you are my heart,” he said to them. These heartwarming words now hold a poignant memory for his grieving family.

Allen was known for going all out on July 4th, wearing costumes and even a fake white beard. His wife recalled how he had shown up at her office in full attire, bringing laughter and joy to everyone around. “That was Allen. He was a genuine, good person, and he loved life,” Paige said.

The loss of Allen Ray McGrew has left his family and friends traumatized. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
