Witnessing two people in love starting their life together and saying ‘I do’ is always a delight. But when US Marine Corps sergeant Joshua Newville and Senior Airman Emily Leehan got married, their wedding became even more memorable thanks to a sweet and emotional moment with Joshua’s son, Gage.

As Emily started reading her vows, she also had a special message for Gage, her stepson. The little boy couldn’t contain his happiness as he watched his daddy getting married, and it was clear that he not only approved of his future mom, but he was genuinely thrilled with his father’s choice.

As his eyes stared at Emily, she turned to Gage and began reading her vows to him. Her words were so touching that the entire audience couldn’t help but let out a collective “awww.” Tears of joy streamed down the faces of many, but it was Gage’s reaction that stole the show.

Listening to his stepmother’s heartfelt words, Gage burst into tears and embraced her tightly. Overwhelmed with emotion, Emily comforted him by saying, “Don’t cry, baby.” She expressed her wishes for Gage to be safe, try his hardest, and be a good person.

But she didn’t stop there. Emily continued by telling Gage that he was a very special boy, highlighting his intelligence, kindness, and good looks. She thanked him for helping shape her into the woman she is today, stating that although she didn’t give him the gift of life, he gave her the gift of him.

After collecting their emotions, the couple proceeded with the rest of the ceremony, sharing their vows. It was a truly heartfelt and unforgettable moment for everyone present.

Following their wedding, Joshua and Emily had to return to active duty immediately, postponing their honeymoon. Both serving in the military, they had to report back to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. But despite their duties, they were able to create a beautiful memory with their blended family.
