We are reaching out to all animal lovers to help raise £4,000 for surgery to fix a puppy’s broken heart. Acorn, a 12-week-old Cavichon puppy, was taken in by animal rescuers in South Wales after a breeder was unable to sell her and six other pups.

Upon her arrival, rescuers quickly noticed that Acorn had a “pounding heart” and needed urgent medical attention. After thorough examinations, it was revealed that she had a hole in her heart that should have closed at birth. This condition, known as Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), requires immediate surgery for Acorn to survive.

The vets at The Ralph Veterinary Hospital in Buckinghamshire, where Acorn is currently being treated, have raised half of the money needed for the operation, but now they are calling on animal lovers like you to come together and help make this surgery possible.

Eileen Jones, the founder of the shelter, expressed their concerns by saying, “We knew immediately there was something seriously wrong with her heart, and without corrective surgery, the pup would not survive.” She also mentioned that they have successfully treated puppies with this condition in the past, and they have all made full recoveries.

Although the surgery is expensive, it is essential for Acorn’s chance at a normal life. The veterinary team recommends waiting until she has grown a bit more before performing the operation. In the meantime, a catheter has been placed through a vein in her groin to support her condition.

“If her condition deteriorates,” Eileen added, “they may have to perform open-heart surgery by opening her chest cavity, which carries greater risks of infection and a longer recovery time. However, the wonderful thing about this surgery is that once it’s successfully completed and after a few months of recuperation, Acorn will be fully recovered and can lead a normal life.”

Currently, Acorn is living with a foster family who diligently monitors her heart and breathing rate. However, we need your help to raise the remaining funds for her surgery. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will make a significant impact on Acorn’s life and give her the chance to grow up healthy and happy.

Join us in helping Acorn and make a contribution today. Together, we can fix her broken heart and give her a second chance at life. We believe that every animal deserves a chance to thrive, and with your support, we can make it happen.

Thank you for being a part of this life-saving mission!
