Tragic Discovery in Tenerife

In a devastating turn of events, human remains have been found in the search for the missing British teen, Jay Slater. The 16-year-old from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire had traveled to Tenerife with two friends for the NRG music festival. However, Jay ended up in an apartment in a remote area, unaware of its distance from his accommodation.

Unfortunate Circumstances

According to one of the friends, Lucy, Jay had stayed with people he had met on a night out. In the morning, he attempted to make his way back, but ended up lost in the middle of mountains with no help in sight. His last known location was marked as the Rural de Teno National Park, a popular hiking spot on the northwestern side of the island.

Authorities’ Search Efforts

Lucy notified the police about the situation, leading to the involvement of mountain rescue teams. The authorities also spoke with the individuals Jay was staying with, who mentioned that he had left their apartment early in the morning to catch a bus. Despite their efforts, the search for Jay came to a heartbreaking conclusion when a lifeless body, believed to be him, was discovered in the Masca area after 29 days of extensive searching.

A Devastated Family

Jay’s family, including his mother Debbie Duncan, is devastated by his disappearance and tragic outcome. Debbie expressed her anguish, emphasizing that Jay is a normal teenager with a promising future and that they simply want to find him. The family deeply appreciates the ongoing efforts of the Spanish authorities during their investigation.

The Road Ahead

Although the official land search has ended, the Spanish police are continuing their investigation into Jay’s reasons for traveling so far from his accommodation. The family urges the media to respect their privacy and allow the authorities to do their work without interference.
