Melanie Griffith Spotted with Visible Mark on Cheek: Skin Cancer Concerns Arise

A recent photograph of the talented Golden Globe winner, Melanie Griffith, taken in West Hollywood, has sparked concerns among her fans. The image revealed a long, jagged mark on the left side of her cheek, leading to speculations of a potential skin cancer recurrence. Although Melanie has not addressed the rumors directly, a reliable source close to her has shed some light on the situation.

According to the insider, those familiar with Melanie’s history are worried that the mark could be a result of her ongoing battle with skin cancer. The source stated, “People close to her are concerned that she experienced a recurrence of the skin cancer that led to the need for more surgery because she has a history of dealing with the disease.”

Dr. Gabe Mirkin, a reputable physician from Florida, who hasn’t treated Melanie but has studied her case, agrees that the possibility of this operation being related to skin cancer is highly likely. He explained that basal cell skin cancers are the most common type, constituting 95 percent of all cases, and are usually curable. In early stages, when the growths are superficial, a surgeon can easily remove the affected area.

However, Dr. Mirkin cautioned that when skin cancer affects areas around the ears, nose, eyes, or mouth, it can penetrate deeper layers of skin, requiring additional surgery. “The general norm is to continue making incisions until there are no more cases of skin cancer in the specimens that have been taken. As a result, this was a rather lengthy operation,” he elaborated.

While basal cell carcinomas are more prevalent, squamous cell carcinomas are a rarer but different type of skin cancer. Dr. Mirkin pointed out that with squamous cell carcinomas, surgeons can aim to remove the tumor and create a margin of healthy tissue around it. However, the rarity of squamous cell carcinomas makes this circumstance less common.

Melanie, who has always been proactive in addressing skin health, previously shared advice with her followers on protecting themselves from the harmful effects of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. She urged everyone to apply sunscreen and make dermatologist appointments as soon as possible.

Melanie Griffith, currently 65 years old, is a proud mother of three children. She has two daughters, one of whom is the renowned actress Dakota Johnson, aged 33, and Stella Banderas, 26. Melanie also has a son, Alexander Bauer, who is 37 years old. It is important for Melanie’s fans and loved ones to support her during this time, offering encouragement and understanding as she navigates her health journey.
