It is with great sadness that I share the news that Logan’s Roadhouse, my favorite steak restaurant, is closing down all 261 of its locations. The ongoing economic collapse has hit many businesses hard, forcing them to take drastic measures to survive. Unfortunately, Logan’s Roadhouse decided to fire all of its employees and shut down completely, rather than trying to adapt to the current situation.

Logan’s Roadhouse is owned by the same parent company as Old Chicago, and it seems that the decision to lay off all employees and cut their healthcare benefits was made at the corporate level. This decision came at a time when people needed support the most, both in terms of their health and financial stability.

To make matters worse, the company’s CEO, Hazem Ouf, was fired for engaging in unauthorized financial activity. He diverted $7 million in sales taxes to states where the company operated without proper approval. This wrongful behavior further highlights the mismanagement within the company.

The lack of transparency from the company only added insult to injury. Employees were not informed that their jobs were being permanently eliminated, leaving them with false hope of returning to work after the initial wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a devastating blow to the 18,000 employees who now find themselves without a job or healthcare benefits.

The new CEO, Marc Buehler, wasted no time in carrying out further layoffs and cutting off healthcare benefits. This has left many employees scrambling for alternative options, such as signing up for Obamacare, to ensure they have access to affordable healthcare during these challenging times.

It is disheartening to see a company that I once admired abandon its employees and prioritize its own financial interests. Instead of supporting their workers during this crisis, Logan’s Roadhouse chose to protect its bottom line at the expense of its loyal employees.

There is a glimmer of hope, however, as Logan’s Roadhouse has established the HOPE Program and Logan’s Love through the CraftWorks Foundation. This program aims to support current and former employees who find themselves in crisis situations. It is good to know that there are some efforts being made to assist those affected by this unfortunate turn of events.

In times like these, it becomes even more evident that companies should prioritize the well-being and support of their employees. It is not only morally right, but it also contributes to the overall success and sustainability of a company. Let us hope that other businesses can learn from this situation and work towards a more compassionate and employee-centered approach during times of crisis.
