In a remarkable tale of survival, a one-year-old baby was found crawling along the side of a highway after spending two days alone. The incident occurred on Tuesday (July 9) when a vigilant truck driver spotted the infant on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 10 in Vinton, Louisiana.

One-Year-Old 'Miracle Baby'

The search for the baby had started after his four-year-old brother was tragically found deceased in a lake behind a motorway service station near the Texas state line on Monday (July 8). Authorities were informed that the baby had last been seen with his 25-year-old mother, Aaliyah N. Jack, on Saturday (July 6). Aaliyah was subsequently located in Mississippi, but without the baby, and taken into custody by the Meridian Police Department.

Fearing the worst, police officers were preparing to search the water where the baby’s brother was found. But then, a passerby spotted the baby and immediately called 911. The infant was quickly taken to a local hospital and was found to be in stable condition.

During a press conference, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Gary “Stitch” Guillory described the baby as a “miracle baby” for surviving the ordeal. He expressed his gratitude to the trucker who spotted the child, saying, “Thank God that trucker saw him.” Autopsy reports for the four-year-old are still pending.

Aaliyah Jack, the mother of the children, has been charged with failure to report a missing child. Judge Tony Fazzio has issued a $300,000 warrant for her arrest, and she is currently awaiting extradition to Louisiana. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working diligently to gather all the details and information related to the case and the tragic death of the four-year-old.

Sheriff Guillory emphasized that the authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the children involved in this heartbreaking incident. He extended his condolences to the family members of both children. Kayla Vincent, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, revealed that no further charges are pending at this time, and the cause of death for the four-year-old will be determined by the coroner.
