Original Member Of Lynyrd Skynyrd Has Died At 71

Music is something that we all appreciate, but each of us may have different preferences when it comes to the type of music we enjoy. For those who love music with a driving beat, Lynyrd Skynyrd is a group that can’t be ignored.

Sadly, we have lost one of the original band members from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gary Rossington, the guitarist of the band, survived a plane crash in 1977 when it ran out of fuel. However, he was unable to survive forever.

In that tragic plane crash, three other band members lost their lives, but Gary Rossington managed to survive. On March 6, 2023, he passed away. The exact cause of his death was not disclosed.

The band released a statement to honor Gary Rossington, saying: “It is with deep sympathy and sadness that we inform you of the passing of our brother, friend, family member, songwriter, and guitarist, Gary Rossington, today.” The band continued, “Gary is now with his Skynyrd brothers and family in heaven, playing it pretty, just like he always did. Please keep Dale, Mary, Annie, and the entire Rossington family in your prayers and respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Although Gary Rossington hadn’t been playing with the band for quite some time, he remained a strong force in music throughout his career.

Today, we are truly saddened to learn that we have lost the great Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Not only was he an exceptional guitarist and songwriter, but he was also one of the coolest and kindest people I have had the pleasure to meet over the years.
