It’s every parent’s or babysitter’s worst nightmare – taking your eye off the ball for two minutes and realizing you’ve lost track of where a little one is.

Kids are extremely good at running off and hiding in strange places that our adult brains simply can’t comprehend. And despite the fact they’re usually completely safe, there are truly no words for those few moments of blind panic.

Well, according to one parent, there is a foolproof method to locate your sprogs easily and avoid the high blood pressure. Krista Piper, who alongside sharing parenting advice on TikTok is also a wedding photographer, lauded the ‘looking loudly’ method.

She began: “I lost my three-year-old in a kids play place today and thank God for TikTok. Another mum found her for me and found her way faster than I would have done. I went seven years without losing one of my children and this play place is huge. It runs the entire length of this giant science museum… it has a lot of little nooks and crannies.”

Ultimately, she lost sight of her daughter and she was ‘missing’. After a lot of fruitless searching and panicking, Krista was helped out by a TikTok she’d remembered watching.

The mum went on: “Right after I started calling her name, a little lightbulb went off in my head and I remembered a TikTok that I had seen over a year ago.”

She explained that the knack isn’t about calling for your child by their name – but the description of what the child is wearing.

Krista added: “I stopped calling out her name and I started yelling out ‘little girl, pink shirt, pink Minnie Mouse shirt’. She was probably only missing for a minute or a minute and a half, but it felt like an eternity.”

She continued: “I heard behind me, other mums repeating that so I just kept going. Luckily, a mum said ‘little girl, pink shirt, pink Minnie Mouse shirt?’ and that was her. So PSA: if you ever lose your child yell out their description. Raise your voice.”

One commenter said: “Something about the other moms repeating it just made me burst into tears.” Krista then replied: “Right!! It was awesome that I could hear them repeating it and repeating it loud!”

Another person said: “This is wonderful – thank you! I try to dress kids in bright clothes when we go to big places like that just for my own eyes but it’s a great idea.”
